A prize of $2500 and a medallion bearing the image of Professor K H Hunt will be awarded annually to the student from the Faculty of Engineering who submits the best PhD thesis in the calender year preceding the award. The prize will be awarded annually on the day in which the main Engineering autumn graduation ceremony is held. Eligible candidates will be those PhD students from the Faculty of Engineering who will be recieving their degrees at the graduation ceremony or who have been awarded the degree in the calender year subsequent to the previous award. All such candidates are eligible and applications for the award are unnecessary. The selection committee will be the Engineering Research Committee, and selection will be based on the examiners' reports on those theses which have been accepted for the award of a PhD degree.
